While investigating Inaut disappearances
in the western grasslands nine years after Tryn returns to her people, she discovers a beast that nearly ends her life. Tryn returns to Nikkar, battered but not broken, to plan with her brother how best
to protect their people. It's sixteen year old Kira who first realizes the attacks are military. The gods have begun their
revenge using creatures of flight and fire, all teeth and claws.
When
a brutal beast even a Pure One can't control sets its killing motives on Inaut cities, no one can stop it, not even Tryn when
she realizes it is headed straight for her children.
A character who lives in the shadow of the powerful, struggles with
inner turmoil and haunting memories and helps ensure the safety of her people.
Second generation daughter of gods, Kira (nicknamed Starlight) works
as a spy for the underground Inaut information line to ensure the Madai keep to their peace treaty promises. When she finds
proof of a planned attack on her home city, she becomes the hunted and stumbles onto a Scholar of the Monarch. Oblivious to
her true identity, she finds him needing her help. When the tables turn and he helps her, she discovers the enemy scholar
isn't only what he seems to be.

The battles of the mortal people of Earth, under the new Monarch, against the
Pure Ones of Niribar rage vicious over the lands. Madai cities are razed, burning. With the help of the Inaut, some Madai
forces are able to fend off those still alligned with the Pure Ones, but when face to face with fighting a Pure One, they
have no hope—until Kira and Tarenek Brye Annis arrive.
The sibling duo with their drako friend Elek are able to do more than fend off a
Pure One. Tarenek, often thought of as a gift of the savior gods, is able to fight a Pure One head on, and he never loses.
It's not long before Kira sees changes in her brother and Tarenek knows the darkness
too. What he was warned about so many years before is surfacing and not waning to his will. He knows what a danger he is becoming,
not only to his enemies, but also to everyone he loves.
Tarenek Brye Annis lives as a rogue, hidden from everyone but his drako friend Elek
and a distant relative, Marana, who owns a tavern in the lower land and keeps him informed of things happening at home
and people who may benefit from the type of help he can offer.
When Marana begs him to take a job for a friend of hers, a job that requires he interact
with people, he reluctantly agrees. Then he meets the woman from his nightmares, a woman his clairvoyant mind has shown in
torment because of his curse.
Circumstances pull him into the job and make it impossible for him to avoid the beautiful
and unaware woman. As the journey passes, Tarenek realizes Fate is being so very cruel but he is determined to avoid the events
his dream has shown him. Yet, each thing he does to avoid the terrible outcome seems to take him ever closer.
Peace has reigned over the oldest continent of Earth for three hundred
and forty six years. When Kira, the oldest of her people, senses the threat rising to shatter peace again, she alone knows
what must be done to halt it, and she has no choice but to call on the youngest of her family for the task.
Together, the unreliable pair with two struggling mentors must scour the
lower lands in search of their people’s only hope for continued peace which resides in the lost grandchildren of the
war hero Tarenek Brye-Annis. They’ve been lost and in hiding to protect them from those intent on destroying his lineage
for hundreds of years.
The Wyllturn siblings haven't seen each other for over twelve months, and
when they reunite, now that all have reached adulthood, things begin to happen that none of them understand or expect.
The siblings know not who they are or why their lives suddenly begin to fall to pieces.
